Principals play a critical leadership role in all of the firm’s work. Parthenon has a very flat structure that allows all members of the firm to become actively involved in many levels of client work. Principals are often the primary contact for clients, responsible for developing and executing work plans and managing Associates.
Principals can expect to grapple with a broad set of business issues
in a range of industries such as financial services, consumer products,
diverse education, and basic manufacturing. Business issues such as
growth, profit improvement, market entry, acquisition strategy, and
integration are encountered frequently. Beyond client responsibilities,
Parthenon relies on its Principals to lead internal initiatives such
as recruiting, charitable giving and training.
Six months after starting at Parthenon, the Partner on my case asked me if I was comfortable presenting the materials to the CIO and the Chief Strategy Officer. The sense of accomplishment you get when you go through something like that and when it’s well received is pretty impressive. I just don’t know many places where you get this kind of opportunity so early on in your career.
