What did you do prior to working at Parthenon?

A   Prior to joining Parthenon, I worked as a consultant for a software company specializing in healthcare applications. I primarily worked with hospital business offices seeking to improve their managed care revenue and risk profile.

Q   Why did you choose to come to Parthenon?

A   I chose to transition my career into consulting to broaden my business experience beyond healthcare. Parthenon offered an environment in which I could gain exposure to a variety of different industries and business situations. Furthermore, the people that I met throughout the interview process assured me that I was at the right place-- sharp, well-rounded and genuinely nice. In short, I felt there was a better fit at Parthenon than any other firm.

Q   How would you describe the type of case work you have done while at Parthenon?

A   While at Parthenon, I’ve had the opportunity to work on broad range of projects including strategy development, operational improvement and M&A due diligence. One of the more interesting cases that I worked on was a gaming exercise for a high-tech manufacturer. This case allowed potential strategies to play out in a dynamic environment.

Q   What has been one of your most notable cases you have worked on?

A   One of the more interesting projects that I worked on dealt with the valuation of an NHL team. While there are a lot of factors influencing the value of sports franchises, we developed a regression model to analyze the key drivers of valuation and used it to generate a range for the team. I don’t think I’ll ever watch a hockey game again in the same light.

Q   What would you say about the leadership opportunities at Parthenon?

A   I have always seen Parthenon as place with unlimited leadership and development opportunities. Early in my career (as an Associate) this meant more responsibility for specific analyses and discrete pieces of work. Currently, as a Principal, I am challenged with structuring projects and directing case teams. One of the aspects of my job that I like best is the fact that I am continually developing professionally.

Q   What internal roles are you involved in?

A   Having spent a lot of time in Hanover, NH, I was eager to help out with the recruiting efforts at Dartmouth. A year after returning from business school, I was asked to manage our undergraduate recruiting efforts there. The experience has been a great way to stay in touch with the students and the school.

Q   What are your interests outside of work?

A   Outside of work, I am an avid fisherman. I have been fly-fishing all over the world including Alaska, Finland, Costa Rica, Bahamas and Canada. However, my favorite type of fishing is a bit closer to home, chasing bluefin tuna off of Gloucester, MA. I’ve worked aboard a commercial fishing boat for the past couple of summers catching these elusive fish—my biggest to date is 650lbs.
