Professional Development
Parthenon invests heavily in the professional development of our associates. We believe each individual has unique needs and motivations. Therefore professional development is best accomplished through a customized program of training, staffing and mentorship.
Training
Associate training at Parthenon is composed of formal associate training as well as informal training that takes place on client case teams. Informal training occurs on an ongoing basis and is customized for each individual depending on the demands of the case work and the strengths of the associate.
The formal training begins with the four-week New Associate Training program, and is supplemented with additional training throughout your career at Parthenon. Modules include both basic and advanced business training. Training events and programs include:
- Specific analytic and business skills training modules taught by experienced Principals and Partners
- Case study classes with professors from M.B.A. programs such as Harvard Business School and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth
- Team building exercises
- Integrative case exercises and presentations
- Fun outings and dinners to introduce new associates the culture
Staffing
Our staffing method aims to maintain the highest-quality work for clients while meeting the developmental needs of our associates. Our two-case model allows you to gain more experience and aid in professional development by increasing your exposure to various managers, analyses, and industries. We promote the generalist consulting model, but as you progress in your career here, you increasingly will be able to customize your case work to meet professional development needs and/or your career motivations.
Mentoring
The associate mentoring program is both a formal and informal system. We strongly encourages all firm members, including associates, to build their network within the organization for both professional development and knowledge-sharing purposes.
Formal Mentorship
The formal mentoring program is meant to deliver customized support for each associate. As a new associates you will be paired with senior associates who provide assistance across a wide-range of issues, ranging from help in learning a new skill on the job, to advising about maintaining a good work-life balance. You will be assigned a principal mentor who meets with you regularly to discuss a variety of topics related to your professional development.
Informal Mentorship
Informal mentoring happens in many ways and takes place on a daily basis. For example, as an associate you typically will be paired with a principal on a case team. This manager will be a resource to you in guiding your output. Additionally, while learning a new skill you may find yourself reaching out to a colleague for guidance.
