Why did you select Parthenon?

With a relatively young office in Mumbai, Parthenon afforded me the perfect opportunity of working in an entrepreneurial environment within the settings of a globally reputed strategic firm. The boutique nature of the firm appealed to me as it ensures that one’s work gets noticed, even at junior levels.

The ability of the office to service clients throughout Asia (and beyond), and not just in India, presented an exciting opportunity of travelling to different places.

Which client industry have you found interesting?

Having grown up in a family of teachers, the education sector has always been close to my heart. Parthenon Mumbai works across the entire spectrum of the education sector and it allows every employee to make a significant contribution to a sector which is extremely crucial for the future. With the amount of our work with government organizations growing quickly, I hope that Parthenon will take a leading role in shaping the future of the nation and the region as a whole.

What leadership opportunities have you had at Parthenon?

I had the opportunity to get involved with client development in my second year as an associate. I was interacting directly with the CEO of the client firm throughout the sales process and drafted the proposal myself. I also presented the findings of the project to the board. The entrepreneurial nature of the firm encourages everyone, at every level, to step above the mandate. This really sets Parthenon apart from its peers.

What was your favorite case?

My favorite case involved designing a self-sustenance strategy for a chain of NGO schools in rural Bangladesh. The client wanted to sell off a piece of land to generate revenue. However, we provided a business case for developing the land into a “democratic complex” which would ensure a continuous stream of revenue while sticking to the company’s philosophies. The survival of the NGO and, consequently, the future of children in over 700 schools in Bangladesh was at stake.

How does Parthenon fit into your life outside of work?

Parthenon is a very culture-driven firm. And boy, do we make sure that we stick to that!!! Quite regularly, people from the office hang out together after work for a beer in the nearest pub or a dinner at a nearby restaurant. And just to make sure we all stay fit, there is a Wii in the office itself. The best part of the year is the associate trip, when all the associates in the office choose a destination and the office sponsors a weekend of class bonding and relaxation.

What do you like about your home office’s location?

The moniker “the city that never sleeps” could very well be bestowed upon Mumbai. Always thriving with life, Mumbai is home to the glitz and glamour of Bollywood as well as the grind and unending energy of the financial world: NY and LA rolled into one. There are quite a few getaways close to the city which make the weekends worthwhile.

What is your favorite thing about Parthenon?

This is an easy one. The exuberance, the passion and the intelligence of the people make Parthenon special. The “smart, nice and driven” motto is ingrained in every aspect of the firm. This makes it easy to work in a team and the collaborative approach is extended beyond work as well.
